Monday Inspiration: Eric Cohler

I fell in love with Manhattan designer Eric Cohler's Charleston home several months ago.  Every now and then I like to revisit the beautiful house with its sweeping verandas and Federal architecture. I think one of my favorite aspects is Cohler's ability to marry traditional and modern design.  I love his use of contemporary art to add a pop of color and a vibrant flare to each room.  Cohler- who has a masters degree in historic preservation- has done an amazing job blending the historical nature of the house with the comforts of today.

I'm completely smitten!

Monday Inspiration: Random Harvest

When my mom was in town two weekends ago, we went to three out of the four Random Harvest locations!  Saturday we stopped by the Georgetown shop after brunch, Saturday afternoon we swung by the Arlington location on on our way home and Monday we popped into the Alexandria store during a little detour through Old Town. A little absurd and wonderfully perfect.  Here are some of my favorite finds.

I always find a Random Harvest trip is exactly the boost I need to become inspired to "finish" my home...atleast until I think of the next project!

Monday Inspiration: Beach

We're heading to the beautiful beaches of the Gulf Coast on Wednesday and I couldn't be more excited! Sun, sand, delicious seafood and  lots of southern hospitality!  What better way to prepare than beach-inspired spaces.

Monday Inspiration: USA

After last night's incredible and surreal news,  I thought what's more inspiring than our own country.   These rooms embody all that is traditional American style and decor and of course our signature colors- red, white and blue. While theme rooms can sometimes be overwhelming or hokey, these interiors allow the Americana to shimmer and the culture of our nation to radiate in a chic and stylish manner.

Monday Inspiration: Portraits

In the auction world, portraits tend to have a more decorative connotation....I mean, how much is a portrait of a brother of a woman who may or may not be related to George Washington worth?

Historically important or not, these portraits are transforming my sentiment towards the traditional paintings.  Each work adds heightened elements of grace and refinement to these already beautiful rooms.
